Sanjay Dadlani and Brian Steel's Flip-Flopping

Sanjay Kishore Dadlani
Middlesex University Student Residing In The UK

Anti-Sai Activsts (including Dadlani and Steel) post numerous quotes and comments from the English versions to Sathya Sai Baba's Telugu discourses and claim that these English versions accurately reflect what Sathya Sai Baba literally said in Telugu. Anti-Sai Activists therefore claim that Sathya Sai Baba is making inaccurate, fallible and contradictory statements based on these English versions.

Nevertheless, to date, not even one Anti-Sai Activist (including Dadlani or Steel) can prove that Sathya Sai Baba made inaccurate, fallible and contradictory statements based on the original Telugu Discourses. As a matter of fact, not even one Anti-Sai Activist has even tried!

To add to their embarrassing predicament, Anti-Sai Activists have taken the equivocal position that not only is it true that the English versions accurately reflect Sathya Sai Baba's literal words in Telugu, they also take the position that the English versions do not accurately reflect Sathya Sai Baba's literal words in Telugu!

Brian Steel (an Anti-Sai Activist) wrote a garrulous, rambling and very lengthy article in which he attempted to make the case that the English versions to Sathya Sai Baba's Telugu discourses are "packaged, highly edited, polished, condensed, enhanced, inaccurate, distant, different, adorned, significantly added to, snipped and hybridized". Even after making this case, Brian Steel flip-flopped and cited these very same English versions (yes, the ones he claimed were "packaged, highly edited, polished, condensed, enhanced, inaccurate, distant, different, adorned, significantly added to, snipped and hybridized") to attribute literal inaccuracies and discrepancies directly to Sathya Sai Baba!

Not only did Brian Steel stick his foot in mouth and belly flop on his position regarding the accuracy/inaccuracy of the English versions, so did Sanjay Kishore Dadlani. As a matter of fact, even when Sanjay was a devotee of Sathya Sai Baba, he knew that the English versions to Sathya Sai Baba's Telugu discourses were not literal or accurate translations. Sanjay said:
Fine. I don't believe that. Why? Why because, I wouldn't know about his WRITINGS [translated (correctly?) from Telugu to English] but his DISCOURSES are most definitely not presented correctly. In fact, when I discovered this, it was the MAJOR reason why I disconnected myself from the Org. I cannot rely on anything which is published in Sanathana Sarathi, Sathya Sai Speaks, Summer Showers, etc as the ACTUAL word of Sai Baba. Another shocking statement. Cool huh? :) (Reference)

Although Sanjay was aware (since the time he was a devotee) that the English versions were not literal or accurate translations he now sticks his big foot in his big mouth by ignoring his past statments. Sanjay scours the English versions to Sathya Sai Baba's Telugu discourses for any inaccuracies he can find so he can post it on his blog claiming that the English versions are accurate representations to Sathya Sai Baba's literal words in Telugu!

Funny enough, when it comes to scriptures that Sanjay's believes in and advocates for, his standard is exactly the same as mine. For example, on one of Sanjay's recent posts on his Gaurasundara Blog, he said:
For the record, I highlighted several problems with this view, not least the fact that the Vaishnava was relying heavily on an English translation of the Govinda-bhashya and couldn't be sure if the original Sanskrit supported the point (Reference).

In the comment above, Sanjay stated that the English translation needed to be checked with the original Sankrit to see if the point was supported by it. Of course, when it comes to Sathya Sai Baba, Sanjay argues the exact opposite arguing that the English versions do not need to be checked with the original Telugu! Just another example of Sanjay's very weird duplicity.

These are the guys who are attempting to make their case against Sathya Sai Baba. They can't even get their wishy-washy arguments straight and contradict themselves so many times, one is left to wonder how anyone finds them even remotely credible.
